Social & Emotional Champions
I read an article in edutopia. This article is about the student development of social and emotional learning. It is mentioned that a successful education demands not only about teaching students academically buy also to teach them about developing their social and emotional skills in order to help students resolve their issues. This article is very interesting because it says that research shows that when promoting these skills, results to reduced violence and aggression between children, higher academic achievement , and an a better capability to function in schools and work place environment. Students feel secure and respected, so they can interact in school and achieve a better academically outcome. I believe that teaching students how to control their social and emotional outcomes should be part of a school curriculum, these builds the students character and can make a great impact or difference in their life. I would like to learn more about how to make the students as a person better; since we have to prepare them as well because one day will go out and live in challenging world.

Sharing a Lesson Plan
I decided to use the Hotchalk lesson plans page (www.lessonplans.com). I thought that this page is very interesting and helpful since they have a large variety of lesson plans for all subjects. The title of the lesson plan that I picked is “Capitalization-Proper Nouns and Adjectives Multiple Intelligences Instruction and Activities”. I thought it was important to use this lesson because it is about teaching language arts to students’ grade levels 5-7. This lesson is about key points that are important for the kids to learn and experience such as verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, musical-rhythmic, bodily- kinesthetic, naturalist interpersonal, and intrapersonal.

Strategies that help! Anger Management
I decided to read this article about strategies that help to deal with anger management students. I picked this cause I think it is important for us as student teachers to start looking forward on how to deal with students who can’t control their feelings. Therefore, I can know what to expect in how to deal and help the student. There is a list of helpful articles in this web resource all about anger management students. I found this article at education-world web resource. It is mentioned in this article that there is nothing is more disturbing to an effective learning environment than a frustrated, angry, or aggressive student. A single student whose emotions are out of control can interrupt the learning of an entire classroom of students. A mixture of strategies and programs have been developed to help teachers deal with what many consider to be the number one threat to classroom management, the angry student. These articles talk about:
- Teach aggressive students self-control skills; for example control group situations, control impulses, and adapt to the school routines.
- Prevent classroom aggression; due to aggressive behavior might signal that he or she is a troubled child and/or cause her to be rejected by her peers; it also might be a harbinger of problems she will display as an adolescent and adult.
- There are some tips for preventing explosions in easily frustrated children.
There is a lot more to this subject as I read each different article. This topic interests me a lot and I would like to learn more information about how to further help children with self-control disturbances.
